VCG Partners is glad to announce that Gerardo Farías and Eduardo García have joined as partners of the Firm to strengthen and expand its tax consulting services.

Below you will find a brief summary of their trajectory:

Gerardo Farías

Mr. Farías obtained his Law degree and his Public Accounting and Financial Strategist degree from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), both with honors. He received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Tax Law, with a cum laude distinction, from University of Amsterdam, in cooperation with the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD), where he was also awarded with the Amsterdam Centre for Tax Law Award for obtaining the highest GPA of his class. He is an active member of the Asociación Mexicana de Capital Privado (AMEXCAP). He has more than 13 years of experience, including an outstanding professional career in law firms such as Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez; and Chevez, Ruiz, Zamarripa (CRZ). He also worked at the international law firm Loyens & Loeff N.V. in Amsterdam. He is the author of several publications on tax issues published by national and international publishing houses.

Mr. Farías has advised in several private equity projects in Europe, the United States of America and Mexico. He has advised issuers, underwriters, and other stake holders in a number of domestic and global offerings, from the structuring phase of the project up to the placement of the relevant security, such as capital development certificates (CKDs), investment project certificates (CERPIs), as well as trust certificates issued by Mexican Real Estate Investment Trusts (Fibras) and Energy and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (Fibras-E). He has advised the blockchain and crowdfunding industries, as well as in asset tokenization processes.

Eduardo García

Mr. García obtained his Public Accountant and Financial Strategist degree and his Business Administration degree from ITAM, both with honors and where he also completed a diploma in Corporate Advisory. He has a Master’s degree in Tax Law from Universidad Panamericana, with honors. He is an active member of the International Tax Commission of the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP), of the Tax Subcommittee of the Mexican Association of Securities Brokers (AMIB), of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and of the AMEXCAP. He has more than 16 years of experience, including an outstanding career in law firms such as Ritch, Mueller y Nicolau; CRZ; and Ernst & Young Mexico (E&Y). He has been a professor of corporate taxation and individuals’ taxation in the Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting at Universidad Iberoamericana and a synodal examiner at the same university. He is the author of several publications on tax issues published by national and international publishing houses.

Mr. García has advised several clients in M&A projects (including high-profile transactions in the telecommunications, pharmaceutical, energy and mining sectors), equity fund structures, issuance and placement of debt and equity instruments, financing transactions (including project finance), energy and infrastructure projects (including Fibras-E), real estate projects (including Mexican REITs/Fibras), placement of CKDs and CERPIs, banking and financial sector, estate planning and tax compliance (including due diligence, audits, conclusive agreements with authorities and tax refunds).
